The Deccan Arena is a young but passionate football stadium located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Inaugurated in November 2022, it serves as the home ground for the I-League club Sreenidi Deccan FC.
Though recently built, the stadium holds historical significance for the club. Initially, Sreenidi Deccan planned to use the DYSSR Stadium in Visakhapatnam, a much larger venue. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club never got the chance to play there. The Deccan Arena became their permanent home, marking a new chapter for the team.
With a seating capacity of 1,500, the Deccan Arena fosters a close-knit atmosphere for fans and players alike. On October 22nd, 2022, the stadium witnessed a historic moment – Sreenidi Deccan’s first-ever match at their home ground, where they emerged victorious against TRAU with a score of 1-0.
The I-League is the men’s second-tier of the Indian football league system. It was founded in 2007 as the successor to the National Football League, with the first season starting in November 2007. The competition was launched as India’s first-ever top-tier professional football league with the aim to increase the player pool for the India national team.
Currently, the I-League is contested by 13 clubs. The winners get promoted to the Indian Super League. The I-League operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the I-League 2.
